Disinfectants and sterilants can contain toxic ingredients. It’s important to choose the least toxic alternative as well as use the right product for the job. For example, a product that is strong enough to sterilize an OR does not need to be used at the nurses’ station. Also, for most populations disinfectants do not need to be routinely used in the home.
