There have been two important pieces of legislation introduced that can help protect the public and the environment from harmful chemicals. Senator Lautenburg has introduced the "Safe Chemicals Act of 2011" (S. 847) and on June 24, 2011 Rep. Jan Schakowsky, Rep. Ed. Markey, and Rep. Tammy Baldwin introduced the "Safe Cosmetics Act of 2011" (H.R. 2359).
To help individual nurses and nursing organizations engage their legislators around these important pieces of legislation, we have created a Safe Cosmetics Act of 2011 Toolkit and the Safe Chemicals Act of 2011 Toolkit.
NOW is the time for us to amplify our voices as NURSES.
On July 7, 2011 the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments organized a webinar to help nurses find out how they become engaged around these two important bills. Watch the webinar:
