SUMMARY:ANHE Policy and Advocacy Committee
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to be joined by Gilanie De Castro\, MSN\, RN\, OCN\, NE-BC\, CNML who will walk us through identifying opportunities as a forum to activate members to engage in environmental policy at the local and state level where they live and work\, in light of the current challenges that exist at the federal level. We will use this information in coming up with an environmental-focused “One Key Question” to present at opportunities for legislative engagement.\nGilanie will focus her talk on: \n\nAn overview of the civic process on the road from primaries to midterms and how that varies from state to state – how could our members track this to know what the process looks like for where they live and work? I understand LWV keeps a pulse on this! the who\, what\, where\, when and how of leveraging a “OKQ” intervention like this – who are the key positions in the legislature should nurses direct a question like this to? how many legislators and in what positions would be needed to act as a tipping point to trigger action and accountability? What are the key points in time to engage with the legislature – both for existing legislators and new candidates seeking election?\nRegister in advance: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/KzUFahjBRXyn5jS5Y4q7Mw
