TOMORROW! Join the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy TOMORROW! Join the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments’ Food and Agriculture Committee for a virtual webinar event, Examining the 2025–2030 Dietary Guidelines: Implications for Human and Environmental Health, on January 21st at 4:30 - 5:30 pm ET. We invite you to join this timely discussion of the newly released 2025–2030 Dietary Guidelines for Americans.

This discussion will examine:
- The newly released 2025–2030 Dietary Guidelines
- How food system and dietary recommendations influence environmental and community health
- The role of nurses as trusted advocates in advancing evidence-based, sustainable food and agriculture policies
- Opportunities for engagement and advocacy to support healthier people and a healthier planet

🚨 Our health is on the line. Right now, chemical i 🚨 Our health is on the line. Right now, chemical industry lobbyists are pushing Congress to reopen and weaken the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) — risking rollbacks of protections that keep dangerous chemicals out of our air, water, workplaces, and homes. TSCA has helped ban asbestos, dangerous paint strippers, and harmful degreasers — and has prevented new toxic chemicals from flooding the market.

👉 Take action today: Tell your members of Congress & Senators to oppose any effort to reopen or weaken TSCA — and to defend strong safeguards for people and the planet👇

The disaster has brought another wave of trauma for people afraid of what still lurks inside their homes. Ash in the area is a toxic soup of incinerated cars, electronics, paints, furniture and every other kind of personal belonging. It can contain pesticides, asbestos, plastics, lead or other heavy metals. Many with homes still standing are now living with the hazards left by the fires.

The articles in this special issue of the Journal The articles in this special issue of the Journal of Obstetric, Gynecologic, & Neonatal Nursing (JOGNN) focus on the effects of the environment on women and infants who are among the populations most vulnerable to environmental exposures. Understanding and addressing these issues are crucial to promote health equity and improve public health outcomes. The authors are nurse leaders in environmental health research, education, advocacy, and practice, and they address important environmental concerns for nurses who care for childbearing women. These concerns include lead exposure, adverse reproductive outcomes related to occupational exposure to hazardous drugs during pregnancy, clinical considerations related to climate change, association between exposure to wildfire smoke and neonatal outcomes, and others.
