“This legislation will help impacted communities a “This legislation will help impacted communities and innocent landowners who are forced to deal with PFAS contamination which they didn’t cause and don’t have the resources to clean up,” said Save Our Water, an advocacy group made up of residents of PFAS-affected communities, noting “[We] will continue to push forward to achieve a meaningful groundwater standard for PFAS and look toward using the bipartisan approach taken with this legislation as a model for future PFAS legislation.”

Hair products marketed to Black and brown women sh Hair products marketed to Black and brown women shouldn’t contain chemicals linked to cancer.

But a new Toxic-Free Future analysis of more than 550 products sold at @sallybeauty found chemicals linked to #cancer and other serious health harms in products marketed for textured hair.

📊 More than one in six of the hair products reviewed (17%) contained chemicals that release formaldehyde and/or contained certain siloxanes.

Research shows women of color are disproportionately impacted by the toxic ingredients found in many personal care products.

Washington state will restrict all formaldehyde releasers starting in 2027, and the EU has already restricted certain siloxanes. But customers shouldn’t have to wait for regulations to be protected.

💄It’s time Sally Beauty got a healthy makeover.

Join our friends at Toxic-Free Future and @weact4ej in telling Sally Beauty to remove these harmful chemicals and adopt a comprehensive safer chemicals policy!

Ethylene oxide, one of the most toxic air pollutants EPA regulates, is a highly carcinogenic flammable gas capable of damaging DNA even in small doses. Nearly 14 million people in the U.S. including Puerto Rico live within 5 miles of a commercial sterilizer. https://zurl.co/v7dAC

Moms Clean Air Force, Alliance of Nurses for Healt Moms Clean Air Force, Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments, Physicians for Social Responsibility Pennsylvania, Clean Air Action, and BCMAC, are calling on Pennsylvania leaders to safeguard communities from the impacts of petrochemical and plastic industry buildout.

Communities across Pennsylvania are already exposed to dangerous air pollution from existing petrochemical facilities that harms public health and accelerates climate change. At the same time, the plastics supply chain is exposing families to toxic chemicals, including microplastics and PFAS, that are increasingly linked to serious health risks.

Advocates and experts are sounding the alarm: proposed expansions would lock Pennsylvania into decades of additional plastic production, more fracked fossil fuel infrastructure, and greater pollution for frontline communities. Tune in to hear from public health experts, environmental advocates, and community members dealing with the impacts firsthand: https://zurl.co/b3Led
Nurses see the health impacts of environmental har Nurses see the health impacts of environmental harm every day, in our clinics, hospitals, and communities. From worsening air quality to toxic chemical exposure, these threats are not abstract. They are showing up in our patients.

That’s why we’re coming together for ANHE Virtual Hill Days on May 13–14. Join us to meet with legislators and advocate for clean air, safe water, climate action, and protections that put health first.

This is a critical moment to speak out against rollbacks that put communities at risk and to push for policies that protect both people and the planet.

Yesterday, the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Envi Yesterday, the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments convened Philadelphia health leaders, clinicians, and advocates to respond to federal rollbacks weakening critical air quality protections.

Speakers including Representative Malcolm Kenyatta, Councilmember Dr. Nina Ahmad, Sarah Bucic (ANHE, Policy Analyst), Nina Juntereal (ANHE, Pennsylvania Nurse Advocacy Coordinator), Shawmar Pitts, and Annie Fox grounded the conversation in what these decisions mean for communities across Philadelphia. From worsening asthma to increased heat-related illness, the health impacts are real and already being felt, especially in Black and Brown communities facing disproportionate pollution burdens.

Nurses and health professionals have a responsibility to speak out. Clean air is fundamental to public health, and we will continue to advocate for policies rooted in science, equity, and community well-being.
