We are excited to be joined by Nina Juntereal, PhD, RN. Her presentation explores what data centers are and how their rapid growth affects energy demand and environmental health. It introduces key principles for understanding AI and energy use, the involvement of PJM, and how these factors intersect with health outcomes. The session highlights coalition-building efforts in Pennsylvania to advance energy priorities on affordability, reliability, and sustainability. Emphasis is placed on the role of nurses as a trusted voice in advocacy and education and how nurses can get involved in state level policy engagement to protect public health.

The American Lung Association’s 2026 “State of the The American Lung Association’s 2026 “State of the Air” report is out, and the findings are clear: nearly half of all children in the U.S. are growing up breathing unhealthy air. 

152 million people of all ages live in areas with unhealthy ozone or particle pollution, and recent rollbacks of air pollution standards threaten progress. 
This Earth Day, we’re joining the call to urge EPA to return to their mission of protecting human health and the environment. Children’s health depends on it.
