Summary: Dr. Shirley C. Gordon is a Professor at Florida Atlantic University, Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing. Her research areas involve caring for persons experiencing chronic stigmatized conditions; developing theories to guide nursing practice; holistic nurse coaching; and environmental health including exploring long-term health effects of harmful algae bloom exposure. Published widely, Dr. Gordon has also received funding to support research and service related to harmful algae blooms, persistent head lice, nursing delegation, and school nursing. In 2021, Dr. Gordon established an Algae Bloom Biorepository, funded by the Florida Department of Health.
