Raise your voice in support of environmental protections
Nurses remain one of the largest segments of the U.S. workforce and we continue caring for those most vulnerable in our communities and providing witness to harms. Raising your voice and advocating for healthier communities is more critical now than ever!
The Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments (ANHE) is organizing our annual Virtual Hill Days on Wednesday May 13th and Thursday May 14th. Will you join us as we make our voices heard? If you are interested in joining our virtual meetings with your legislators to urge them to protect climate, environmental, and public health.
In advance of ANHE’s Virtual Hill Days, ANHE will hold a Prep Call to review talking points, tips on meeting with legislators, how to develop your comments and we answer your questions to prepare for our virtual visits!
ANHE Virtual Hill DAYS Prep Call will be held on Tuesday May 12th at 3 PM ET.
Register Here: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/X7K4fo-8SiC-JXVd73o9Qw
Everyone who registers will receive the slide deck and a recording of the call.

Pushing Back on numerous regulatory rollbacks including the Endangerment Finding, soot and mercury air toxic standards, and PFAS drinking water standards . |

Elevating the overall importance of clean air, clean water, and healthy environments |
ANHE’s top priorities for members of Congress:
- Take urgent action on climate change
Across the country, communities are facing record heat, devastating wildfires, severe floods, and other extreme weather disasters that are growing more frequent and destructive. The science is clear: climate change is driving these events, putting lives at risk. It’s time for bold, proactive climate action that invests in clean energy, protects public health, and delivers justice for the communities hit hardest. Specific asks to members of Congress to ensure communities are resilient to extreme weather include:
- Full funding and adequate staffing for agencies like FEMA, NWS, and NOAA.
- Reduce harmful climate pollution by ensuring the EPA lives up to its mission; and accelerating the transition to clean energy.
- Urge EPA to vacate its decision to rollback the Endangerment Finding and greenhouse gas standards for vehicles.
EPA is required by law to protect us from air pollution that endangers public health and welfare – including greenhouse gases that are driving climate change. By repealing the endangerment finding and greenhouse gas standards for vehicles, the Trump administration is undercutting EPA’s ability to act. As we experience ever-worsening extreme weather and climate disasters, this decision will harm our health, our communities, and our economy
- Urge Congress to oppose efforts to weaken federal protections from toxic chemicals
Chemical industry lobbyists are pressuring members of Congress to reopen TSCA and weaken the protections provided by the law. Reopening TSCA would almost certainly mean (see additional details here):
- Less time for safety reviews of new chemicals, allowing more harmful chemicals like PFAS to enter the market before they are fully evaluated.
- Weakened state authority to protect residents from harmful chemicals.
- Rollbacks of federal actions that reduce exposure to cancer-causing chemicals like methylene chloride and trichloroethylene (TCE).
