ANHE Policy Advocacy Forum Monthly Call – March 2023

This month’s Policy & Advocacy call will be Thursday March 2nd at 3 pm ET and will be focused on two timely topics: 1) Ohio Train Derailment and 2) EPA soot comment period. Please see the agenda below and the call-in information.
Agenda
1. Ohio Train Derailment
  • Eve Gartner, managing attorney in the Toxic Exposure & Health Program at Earthjustice will join and give us the broad view of regulatory failures (explosions, derailments, leaks, etc.) and our addiction to plastic that made the derailment so toxic and dangerous. She’ll also talk about what levers we have with the EPA/Biden administration.
  • Peggy Berry, an ANHE nurse from Ohio, will also be on hand to share her experiences on the ground and exhort nurses to get involved, sharing a petition folks can sign right away

2. Soot Comment Period

  • Jessica Mengistab, ANHE Program Manager, will join to talk about EPA’s open comment period on the proposal to update air quality standards for particulate matter and how nurses can weigh during the comment period.
