Clean Water Act 48th Anniversary

October 18, 2020 @ 8:00 am - October 23, 2020 @ 5:00 pm EDT

Access to clean water is a fundamental right that every American should be afforded and our leaders have a moral obligation to protect and uphold this right.

On Sunday, October 18th we will celebrate the 48th anniversary of the Clean Water Act. This important legislation has been instrumental in requiring set standards for clean water in order to protect it for uses such as drinking, fishing, and much more. It makes it clear that pollution discharges must be regulated in order to protect our lakes, rivers, and streams from being polluted and unsafe. The Clean Water Act has ensured the safety of clean water for the public health, recreational activities, and wildlife and has kept billions of pounds of pollutants out of our waterways.

As we celebrate 48 years of progress, we recognize now more than ever our fundamental rights are being challenged and low-income communities and communities of color will pay the brunt of it if we don’t continue our fight against environmental rollbacks.

We’d greatly appreciate your engagement over social media and in participating and sharing Clean Water for All’s virtual townhall on Tuesday, October 20th at 5pm eastern. Here is the social media toolkit and more details about plans for the week.

Please use the social media guidance attached to promote the virtual townhall on Tuesday, and plug into the themed days of action by posting on your channels all week.
