On day one of his presidency, President Biden and his administration promised bold action to reverse the previous administration’s rollback of vehicle emissions and fuel economy standards for passenger cars and trucks.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has proposed new federal Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards for vehicles sold in MY2027 and beyond. The new standards are designed to improve fuel economy for new cars sold in the United States. Strong fuel economy standards have the power to drive down vehicle pollution, protect public health, reduce oil consumption, and save consumers money at the pump.
NHTSA is accepting comments on the proposed standards and it’s critical that nurses make their voice heard and call for the finalization of the strongest possible fuel economy standards! Submit your comment by October 16.
