From constant noise and pedestrian safety risks to the toxic impact of diesel exhaust on children’s respiratory and developmental health, there are countless reasons to be concerned about the proximity of major trucking routes to K-12 schools, daycare centers, and public parks across Pennsylvania.

A new report released today (#WorldAsthmaDay) by the Clean Trucks PA coalition examines this important problem — and the wide array of solutions available to state leaders to help deliver cleaner air for kids.

Yesterday, the U.S. House passed three Congre

🚨 Yesterday, the U.S. House passed three Congressional Review Act resolutions to repeal clean vehicle standards—putting public health and climate progress at risk. These include the Advanced Clean Trucks and Clean Cars II rules, which reduce pollution from the largest sources: cars, trucks, and SUVs.

For nearly 50 years, states like California have had the right under the Clean Air Act to adopt stronger standards. But these resolutions strip that away, threatening the health of millions—especially children, seniors, and those in polluted communities.

Katie Huffling of the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments said: “These EPA-approved standards are essential to prevent asthma attacks, heart disease, premature births, and early deaths.”

The Senate votes are next. It’s time to speak up. #ProtectCleanAir #ActOnClimate #HealthNotPollution

We will be joined by speaker Regina Hsu who is a senior attorney in Earthjustice’s California Regional Office, where she works on the Right to Zero campaign. Regina primarily works to accelerate transportation electrification in California and nationwide. Much of her work centers on electrifying the goods movement industry and reducing pollution at the San Pedro Bay Ports, the largest port complex in the United States and single largest stationary source of pollution in the Los Angeles region.
