There’s so much pollution in the air now that if it weren’t for our lungs there’d be no place to put it all. – R Orben
Nursing Summit on Environmental Health
Be in Nashville on May 6 and 7 in association with the annual CleanMed Conference. Titled “Calling All Nurses: Leading the Way to Healthy Environments”. Registration is at the CleanMed site. Take a look at the agenda at Summit Agenda, and note you can also get to the registration from that ANHE page.
Food and the Environment
Barb Sattler and her team are starting a monthly webinar series – What All Nurses Need to Know About Food, Agriculture, and Health. Pesticides, Sustainability, Climate Change, and more. I don’t have the exact dates and times (they are working out the techy connecting part) but will let you know as soon as I get it.
To whet your appetite take a look at an offering from the NYT. The food and climate writers must have had a potluck. We may not agree with all their points, but good conversation starters. Questions. Quiz. Farming. Kelp. Cuisines. Wine.
The Partnerships for Environmental Public Health (PEPH), among other things, provides interesting webinars. Go to: PEPH. The next one is May 22 – using oral histories to understand how communities perceive environmental risks. It is not yet on the overall calendar but you can find it at: Oral History.
Get out your pencil, or pen, or Smith Corona, or IBM Selectric, or whatever you write with these days. The Annual Review of Nursing Research! is lining up to have an environment focused edition. Beth Schenk is the issue editor for this volume. Dates: June 1 – tell Beth you are interested in submitting an article email@example.com; July 1 – submit your article; August 1 – articles go to peer review.
Take a look at the American Climate Leadership Summit 2019 in Washington, D. C. on May 1st and 2nd. Go to ecoAmerica. While you are at the website take a look at all ecoAmerica has to offer – Research, Guides, Programs!
