The Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments Announces 2021 Health Equity + Anti-Racism Leadership Institute

WASHINGTON, DC  – The Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments is excited to announce that applications have opened for the 2021 Health Equity + Anti-Racism (HEAR) Leadership Institute. The Institute is a free-of-charge virtual program for nurses and nursing students running from May through September 2021.

The HEAR Leadership Institute aims to center anti-racism and health equity within the contexts of environmental health and justice as well as nursing practice more broadly. The HEAR Leadership Institute participants will engage in instruction, discussion, and collaboration around health equity and anti-racism. Recognizing the urgent need to advance action around antiracism and health equity, the HEAR Leadership Institute aims to provide support for participants in taking acts of leadership in environmental health and nursing practice that produce outcomes and actions that benefit Black and Indigenous peoples and people of color.

The HEAR Institute is open to nurses and nursing students from all backgrounds, identities, specialties, and geographical areas of the United States and other nations. The design of the program will be guided by the needs and contexts of participants and consist of a combination of workshops, group collaboration, and community building.

Interested nurses and nursing students can learn more about the Health Equity + Anti-Racism Leadership Institute here and are encouraged to apply here
