STATEMENT ON EPA ADMINISTRATOR PRUITT’S RESIGNATION

Washington, DC (July 6th, 2018) – Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt has resigned and deputy Andrew Wheeler will assume the role of acting Administrator. In response to Pruitt’s resignation The Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments’ (ANHE) Executive Director, Katie Huffling, MS, RN, CNM released the following statement:

“In Scott Pruitt’s tenure at the EPA he worked to dismantle vital clean and air water protections and cut enforcement of essential public health safeguards, harming the health and future of the American people. Our country needs an EPA Administrator that will put the health of Americans first, especially our most vulnerable populations. As nurses, we will not accept an EPA Administrator who will not uphold the mission of the EPA, to protect human health and the environment.“
